Piotr Borkowski is the Artistic and Managing Director of the Feliks Nowowiejski
State Philharmonic Orchestra in Olsztyn, Poland. He is also the First Guest Conductor of the
Taegu Philharmonic Orchestra and Visiting Professor of Conducting at the Keimyung University in
Taegu, South Korea. In 1989 Maestro Borkowski was appointed Assistant Professor of Conducting at the
Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, Poland. He is a graduate of Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw
where he conducted the Warsaw National Philharmonic Orchestra to earn his Diploma with Honors.
Notable teachers of Maestro Borkowski include Hans Graf in Vienna, Austria and Chung Myung-Whun
and Ilia Musin in Sienna, Italy. Maestro Borkowski has led many premieres of works by Polish
composers, including the Polish premiere of the oratorio Return of the Prodighal Son by
Feliks Nowowiejski. He has also recorded for Polish Radio and Television and for the French recording
company, Skarbo.
